OHSU Planter Restoration

Portland, OR

Leak investigation and repair design.

Our work on the OHSU RJH (Robert Jones Hall) planter began with an investigation into leaks of water in office spaces, an electrical room, and below-grade tunnels around and between the buildings. We found water intrusion below several planter areas during the initial investigation. One of the smaller planters above the office space was leaking due to the failure of the original waterproofing and the HVAC mounting, which had penetrated the bottom of the planter. We collaborated with the waterproofing contractor to install a design/build repair in this area.

Our investigation also revealed design and waterproofing failures at the larger courtyard planter. We are conducting repairs in this area as two distinct projects to waterproof the planter and address waterproofing at the edges of the surrounding courtyard.
